THE HEALTH OF MY SIAMESE CATS
In this section you will find some information about the health measures adopted in my farm
When breeding, health must come first among the priorities of a breeder, otherwise there is a risk of selecting "time bombs" or kittens destined to be weak and sick. Here is my modus operandi regarding the selection of my cats:
1* Rigorous study of the pedigree and collection of information from various breeders on the cats in the pedigree to understand the longevity of my lines and any health problems in order to limit them.
2*Once a year sample testing for upper respiratory tract diseases (herpesviruses and caliciviruses) and gastrointestinal tract diseases (parvovirus, giardia, tritrichomonas phoetus).
3*Test of genetic diseases identified for the Siamese breed (in the case of Siamese affecting the eyes) and reproduction of negative cats or of only one cat carrying the gene. Specifically, these are: Gangliosidosis, Mucopolysaccharidosis type VI (affecting the skeletal and nervous system), Primary hereditary glaucoma and progressive retinal atrophy.
4*Complete vaccine prophylaxis: trivalent vaccine (herpes, calyx and parvovirus) after two months and booster after three months. (I'm evaluating the new vaccination guides that offer 3 vaccines for puppies). Then annual recall.
5*Before delivery of the puppy coprological test to avoid the presence of intestinal parasites.
